Lynbrook Couple To Star In New VH1 Series
Oct 28th

A Lynbrook couple is among five over-the-top couples who will be featured on a new VH1 series, ““My Big Friggin Wedding,” a new show from the producers of “Jersey Shore.”
The show, to air on Mon., Nov. 1 at 9 p.m., will follow two couples from Long Island and three from New Jersey as they each plan the wedding of their dreams in this ten episode docu-series. The cameras will follow the stress and drama of the soon-to-be married couples and their families as they prepare to tie the knot — or not. Throughout the weeks leading up to their nuptials, these couples will battle their families, friends and each other to work out all the details of their big day.
Sandra and Joey Cimino live with Joey’s parents in Lynbrook. She is clueless when it comes to cooking and cleaning, says the show’s promo, and is most concerned about her backside being able to fit into her wedding dress. “The show will show the trials and tribulations of planning a wedding,” said Sandra, who said that producers sought her out, probably because she posts online at Liweddings. ”Things like picking out the limo, the tuxedoes, the dress …” He’s afraid of her meddling family, the producer’s said, referring to Joey — although Sandra said that their families get along wonderfully now, “like one big, happy Italian family.”
The two met through friends and balance each other out, they say. “She is more laid back,” said Joey. “And I’m more high-strung. We have a nice balance.” He said he proposed on a beach in Mexico and hit her in the head with the ring box — accidently, of course. “I kind of tossed it, and it was dark, and it bounced off of her head.” Eventually, Sandra forgave Joey and said yes, and preparations were underway for the wedding — which will be featured in the final episode of the series.
Although the couple lives with Joey ’s parents in Lynbrook, they are looking for their dream house and want to start a family soon.
Would they do the show again? Yes, they said. And what advice would they give other couples who are planning their wedding right now?
“If anyone else decides to throw their two cents in, value their opinion,” said Sandra. “But in the end, it’s still your wedding. Do what makes you happy.”
